Bernard Safran
Bernard began studying art at the age of eight. He continued his studies at the High School of Music and Art in New York and later Pratt Institute.
He went on to work as an illustrator for 10 years. In 1957 through 1965 he painted the portrait covers of Time Magazine which earned him notoriety. After leaving Time he continued painting portraits of well known people as well as urban and rural life.
Bernard left 250 paintings in the collection, over 175 drawings, and 1,000s of photographs.
