Emily was a gifted artist, athlete, and student whose creative light continues to shine through the work of Emily’s Hope, the nonprofit founded in her memory. In her short life, Emily was a prolific creator, leaving behind 30 paintings/drawings and several pieces of pottery. She had a deep love for surrealism, a passion reflected in her art. Her talent was widely recognized—she won the first State AA Competition for her painting Clairvoyance and earned multiple Scholastic Gold Keys, including one for her piece Incongruous.

Emily was awarded an art scholarship to the University of South Dakota, where she planned to further develop her artistic voice. She was also a dedicated athlete, excelling as a gymnast and in track and field as a hurdler and jumper. The oldest of four children, Emily was always creating—from elaborate stick-and-stone sculptures as a child to deeply imaginative paintings as a teen.

Her legacy lives on through Emily’s Hope, where her artwork is featured at the annual Art Show and Auction and continues to inspire awareness, healing, and change.
